Tamara Farrow grew up in Northern California and has called the foothills her home since 1998. She is a mixed media artist based in Auburn, CA. She attended Humboldt State University and obtained her bachelor’s degree in art in 1988. After marriage, kids, and working in education, dabbling in art along the way, she began painting again in 2019.
In the beginning, she started using her first loves, watercolors, pastels, and pen & ink. Tamara took a few mixed-media workshops, which sparked an interest in painting with acrylics and adding torn paper and ink to the canvas.
Influenced by nature and her surroundings, she paints landscapes, animals, and flowers. She uses a vivid, rich palette and high saturation to emphasize movement and flow in her pieces. At the same time, a strong use of composition, with shapes and distinctive lines, creates a fluidity that gives her work a sense of energy. The paint, along with paper and ink, challenges viewers to see diverse textures and intensity of color, attributes that make each piece a unique and vibrant experience.
Tamara has continued to take classes and workshops over the years to inspire her creativity. She is a member of Blue Line Arts and Sacramento Fine Arts. Tamara has been accepted in several juried art shows, including the California State Fair, Magnum Opus, Bold Expressions, Rocklin Fine Arts, Annual Motherload Competition, and Membership Medley.
