Working with clay is a bit of an obsession with me. I like to bend it, roll it and spin it on the wheel. Sometimes I close my eyes and visualize the profile of an object and manipulate that profile until I am satisfied. Clay is a forgiving medium that allows ones imagination to flow. Sometimes it tells me what it wants to become and other times I feel in control. Thinking about shapes, lines and glaze combinations is all part of my enjoyment. When I work with clay I find myself in a peaceful, calm state that allows my creativity to flow. Opening up the kiln after a glaze firing teaches me about my work and what comes next.
