From the time I could pick up a pencil I knew I wanted to be an artist (or a ballerina – but obviously that wasn’t in the cards)! Growing up in Salyer (Trinity County), there were not many opportunities for a 10-year-old “budding artist” to cultivate her skills. For a very short time Willow Creek had an art gallery that offered lessons, my parents were generous enough to let me take a few. I was pretty much in Heaven. That was nearly 60 years ago. In the past twenty years, I have dabbled in the art world. I am very much self taught, trying out different techniques and mediums. So far, I have found acrylics to be my favorite as it is forgiving and fast.

As you can see, I am in a very “RED” stage. I can’t seem to get enough of the energy and boldness. I find working with recycled/found/discarded material and tying them together with the acrylic is very therapeutic; each piece has its own story and history that is still alive and screaming “Hey! I’m still here, and I’m going to paint this town RED!!!”

I hope you enjoy my work.
