As an artist and a conservationist, my work is inspired by my years spent in the woods – from Florida to Alabama, New Mexico to California – and the moments of reflection that often come when in these places.
Through my work I strive to bring the simultaneous complexity and simplicity of nature into people’s homes, bringing the outside back in and revisiting one’s halcyon roots.
I started teaching myself woodworking around 2017 and I have found that in a world full of heavy problems, I enjoyed the challenges and intense mechanics of woodworking to both solve problems beautifully but to also provide an alternative to environmentally destructive and mindless consumerism.
My medium in this collection is salvaged fallen trees I have collected locally in the woods, like Blue Oak and Manzanita, which I transform into the portals you see here now. Each piece is unique and tells its own story.
