I retired from the prosthetics-orthotics profession after 40+ years of a wonderful career. Prosthetics is a combination of skills from many other industries and vocations. I have found the same challenges and rewards in learning and perfecting the art of woodturning.
Most of the wood I get comes from trees that need to come down, old orchards being replaced, or trees that have died or are too close to homes for fire protection. Burls, bark, and knots add interest or features to the final turnings.
I hope you enjoy these wood pieces as much as I like making them. All the finishes are food-safe, typically some combination of oils and waxes.
